I needed it as a diagnostic tool for pointing an attic antenna more than as a set-top box. Although it appears ideal as a primary tuner for a TV, it was perfect as a high-accuracy signal strength meter as well. I was able to resolve my signal issues
love the meter but its the remote thats hard to understand some of the functions.
Please forget my previous 2 star review. I didn't have the HDMI cable connected off of the signal meter and was just running on the coax in and coax out to the antenna port. Using the HDMI made a huge difference (as would be expected) in the picture quality.
So yeah, 100% - great product - Just don't be a dumb a$$ like me and leave off the HDMI cable.
The tuner in the signal meter I got is substandard - my TV tuner is way better. The signal meter itself is helpful in placing the antenna in the correct position, but the tuner is junk - the picture quality just isn't there.
I wish there was a firmware update or something that could fix it.
Bill, the picture quality should be about the same as the TV. Make sure that you have the unit connected to your TV with the included HDMI cable and not the red yellow and white RCA cables.
I purchased this device upon the impression that a channel number could be entered and then had time to move my ClearStream2V around to locate best location. My experience is quite different as the meter quickly moves to next receivable signal not allowing me to hunt for the number entered. This switch to next signal has a image, that quickly appears and then disappears, of something like a yellow or gold smiley face but not sure as it happens very fast. It seams that I needed to position the 2V at 30% or higher before it would not advance to next signal. My older Samsung allows OTA search using main number and sub number such as 12-1 in my case, but this tuner has no method of sub numbers. It would be great if the frequency could be entered on the manual search such as 207.1 or 503.
I live in 97302 area code and use 3 attic antennas(2 different areas) to successfully watch over 50 channels which are 45 miles due north of my location. This Clearstream 2v is located(attic is a challenge) behind our master bedroom Samsung tv. It works this location but could not tune in (little or none) the Fox 12 station. Thus my purchase of your signal meter which gives me information about my signal condition (mostly UHF channels) but does allow me time to locate a position when channel signal is weak.
Also not a fan of the infrared remote which requires a straight line of site to meter. The meter off position display is too bright. A secondary reason of purchasing was the recording ability, but have not used that feature as of yet.
Wayne, you can manually enter an RF channel on my signal meter. To do this, press the menu button on the remote, select 'manual search,' type in the RF channel of a TV station that isn't being picked up, move the antenna around until you see a percentage, then hit OK on the remote to add it. For instructions, see video below at about 4:45:

Note that the RF channel might not be the same as the virtual channel. Do a wikipedia search of the TV station call sign and look for the 'real channel.'
Why I Built This Meter
Hey, Tyler here — also known as the Antenna Man. For years, I’ve helped millions of people cut the cord and get free TV with just an antenna. But there’s always been one frustrating part: finding the best signal.
Too many people give up because their antenna isn’t pointed in the right direction — or they waste hours scanning, rescanning, and still miss out on channels they should be getting.
So I decided to fix that. I built a signal meter that actually works — something I wish everyone had when setting up their antenna. My dream? Help even more people cut the cord for good… and actually enjoy free TV the way it’s meant to be.
My mission stays the same: to help people cut the cord — and I truly believe this product will help even more of you do just that.

Let’s Clear Things Up
What does the signal meter actually do?
It shows you the real-time signal strength from your antenna, so you can adjust it and instantly see which direction gives you the best reception — no more rescanning or guessing.
Will it help me get more channels?
Yes — when your antenna is pointed in the optimal direction, you can often pick up channels you weren’t getting before. That’s what this tool is designed to help with.
Is it hard to use?
Not at all. Just plug it in between your TV and antenna. That’s it. Plus, every order comes with instructions and a full video tutorial where I walk you through how to set it up and use it properly.
Do I need to buy anything else for it to work?
Nope. If you already have a TV and an antenna, you’re good to go. Just connect the signal meter in between, and you’re all set.
Will this work with all antennas?
It works with most antennas that connect via coaxial cable — which is the standard type used for over-the-air TV.
What if I have questions or need help?
I’ve got you covered. The setup video answers most common questions, but if you’re stuck, just reach out via email — I’m here to help.
