The signal meter is what I needed

The signal meter is what I needed. Channel 3, which carries the Packer's Games, would drop out every once and awhile. I know very little about antennas and was not able to troubleshoot our system. I decided I would throw money at it by purchasing and installing a new antenna. Trying to ascertain what antenna to buy was totally frustrating. Fortunately, I stumbled on to a review on an antenna by Tyler the Antenna Man. Tyler's review was amazing and used actual data! I spent the $40 to get Tyler's recommendation on an antenna. With that, I found out about the signal meter and bought that. Armed with the information and the signal meter, I went back to troubleshooting with enthusiasm. I thought the issue would be our old antenna, our old coax cable, or the direction of the antenna. Surprisingly, I found out the problem channel 3 shares the exact same tower as three other stations that come in extremely well. So this has more to do with channel 3. Despite the age of our equipment (the antenna is in the attic) everything is working well and using the meter I was able to show that the long cable lengths and splitter only reduced the signal two points. This is great news for me. Running new cable is possible, but would have been difficult. By directing the antenna. We did pick up a few points. So we are going to monitor what effect this has. Also, Tyler pointed out that some TV tuners just are not very good. Which would explain why the living room TV is more robust on channel 3 than the kitchen TV. The signal meter can also be used as a tuner, so we are now waiting for a "bad" channel 3 day to see if the signal meter tuner resolves the problem. If not, we will get the antenna Tyler recommended and install it. I am confident that will resolve it. Both Tyler and the signal meter were tremendously helpful and I strongly recommend them to anybody that is struggling with TV reception.
